Miami celebrates Lantern Festival

The opening ceremony of the first Chinese Lantern Festival was held Oct 5 at Jungle Island theme park in Miami, Florida, USA.

Zheng Wen, cultural counselor at the Consulate General of China in Houston, and Francis Suarez, Miami mayor, attended the event.

During this period, Jungle Island will feature a variety of colorful Chinese lanterns of Chinese pandas, Peking Opera, the Monkey King from classical literature Journey to the West, dragons, pipa and kites, as well as other activities such as beach volleyball, cinema, and seaside hotels.

Visitors to the park can observe jellyfish in the facility's lakes and flamingos on its bridges, while onsite entertainment includes music, recreational facilities, and simple catering.
