Recently, a performance was held in the capital to mark the 10th anniversary of the setting up of the Beijing Foundation for Disabled Persons.

The foundation, established in 2009, has so far raised money and collected equipment worth about 189 million yuan, benefiting over 300,000 disabled people. And it has organized 865 public activities.

Disabled pianist Liu Wei, the male band Mujishaoni and gold medal winner at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games Gao Fangxia performed at the event.

Speaking about the event, Wu Wenyan, the director-general of the Beijing Disabled Persons' Federation, said: "I'm happy to see the growing ability (of organizations) to assist the disabled in Beijing. Ten years is not a destination, but marks a new starting point. And we will write a new chapter with all our disabled friends."
