Circular calls for efforts to ensure campus safety
BEIJING - A circular has been issued by an education supervision office under the State Council, China's cabinet, calling on education authorities, kindergartens, elementary and secondary schools across the country to strengthen campus safety measures.
The circular asked local education authorities to work with public security organs and market watchdogs to launch an examination to eliminate campus safety hazards, targeting safety management policies, campus surroundings, school buses, campus facilities and activity venues.
Local education authorities should make sure that schools are equipped with sufficient security staff and necessary protective equipment, and security staff should better fulfill their duties, according to the circular.
Education authorities and schools were also asked to boost safety education and drills to improve students' survival skills.
