In October last year, local police received a tip-off that a kind of drink named "papaya", which can make people extremely excited and addicted, was sold in bars and karaoke bars. Investigation showed that the drink contains gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), also known as the "date rape drug".
Further investigation showed that the drugs were manufactured in the city of Tonghua in the northeast Jilin province, and have been transported to Anhui and the southern Guangdong province for sale.
More than 100 drug users were caught. The case is under further investigation.
