Chinese railway innovations shine at transport technology fair in Berlin

Chinese railway technology garnered significant international attention at the recently concluded InnoTrans transport technology fair in Berlin, with the CR450 high-speed train driving simulator among the highlights.

The fair, held from Tuesday to Friday, attracted 3,170 rail industry exhibitors from 59 countries, including 200 Chinese companies, according to China State Railway Group, the national railway operator.

At the China Railway exhibition, visitors engaged with the simulator's controls and paused for photos. The display spanned more than 500 square meters and featured artificial intelligence applications, digital maintenance technology, and railway inspection equipment. Models of Fuxing high-speed trains, track maintenance machines, and a smart freight terminal at Xi'an International Port provided insights into China's passenger and freight rail operations.

International technical exchanges during the fair focused on battery-powered trains, braking systems, and reducing emissions from rail transport, with railway companies from China, France, Germany, the United States, and Sweden sharing their expertise. A separate meeting brought together companies from countries along China-Europe freight routes, including Germany, Russia, and Kazakhstan, to discuss innovations in rail vehicles, containers, and related equipment.

China State Railway Group, which hosted both meetings, also proposed a seven-point cooperation initiative covering areas such as digital technology, common standards, low-carbon development, and railway safety. First held in 1996, InnoTrans takes place every two years and is a major international trade fair for transport technology. This year's event marked its 15th edition.
