The picking season for gouqi, or Chinese wolfberry, is underway in Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region, two weeks earlier than in other provinces and regions in the country.
Local farmers are busy picking the first batches in a field that's more than 200 hectares in size.
Thanks to its widely recognized nutritious value, the Ningxia wolfberry, also known as red treasure, has seen an increasing demand in the premium food and health products markets, particularly in western and central Asian countries, in recent years.
