Water diversion project to deliver 100 million cubic meters per year
A project that guides water from China's Yellow River in Puyang city, Central China's Henan province, can provide 110 million cubic meters of water annually to Baiyangdian Lake in North China's Xiongan New Area.
From November, 2018 to March, 2019 the project has transferred 80 million cubic meters of water to the lake.
As one of the major national water diversion projects initiated by the State Council, the project delivers water from Yellow River to run through 26 counties or regions in Henan and Hebei provinces, aimed to alleviate the water shortage in Hebei province.
The total length of the trans-province project is 482 kilometers, including 84 kilometers in Henan and 398 kilometers in Hebei, and it benefits an area of 310,000 hectares.
The first section of the project in Puyang city, Henan province was started Oct 26, 2015.
After the Xiongan New Area was established in 2017, the project provided water resources for the construction of the area.
