Minibus driver arrested for alleged kidnap, sex crimes
A 50-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly keeping an underage girl as a slave in Fenghuang county, Hunan province.
According to a statement released by the people's procuratorate of Fenghuang county on Tuesday, the local public security bureau submitted a request to arrest a suspect who allegedly imprisoned and sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl for 24 days.
The suspect, surnamed Long, relied on his minibus to make a living, and, having been single for an extended period, gradually became addicted to pornography, according to the statement.
In 2016 Long, according to the statement, built a basement under his house, and bought metal rings, chains, electric batons, and masks online.
On Feb 13, 2019 Long, while driving his minibus, saw a girl looking for a taxi.
He then coaxed her into his minibus, before kidnapping her and bringing her to his basement, where he imprisoned and sexually assaulted her multiple times, according to the statement.
The girl was rescued by local police 24 days after her disappearance, and she has reportedly recovered both physically and mentally.
