Yanoda and Discovery to build a rainforest tourism zone in Hainan
South China's Hainan province plans to build a new rainforest tourism zone, with a total investment of 5 billion yuan ($748 million).
The project, comprised of hotels, rainforest recreation and ecological parks, will be jointly built by local Hainan Yanoda Yuanrong Travel Co Ltd and the US Discovery Communications and is expected to create around 4,000 jobs when in operation. The planning and design work began on March 19, said Hainan Daily.
The project is located in Baoting Li autonomous county, 35 kilometers away from downtown Sanya, a coastal resort city at the southern tip of Hainan island.
"Tourism is a way of life, and cooperation with the Discovery Communications will promote a new form of tourism in Hainan," said Cai Jianqiang, general manager of Hainan Yanoda Yuanrong Travel Co Ltd.
He said Yanoda will continue to make innovative efforts to build the zone into new tourism landmark of the province.
According to Hainan Daily, Discovery Communications said Yanoda's combination of natural landscape with multiple entertainment facilities is in perfect harmony with the group's consistent brand spirit, partly contributing to the collaboration.
