Paper-cut artist makes 100 pigs for Chinese New Year

In celebration of the upcoming Year of the Pig, Li Xia, a paper-cut artist from Jilin city, Northeast China's Jilin province, has created a 26-meter-long work featuring 100 different types of pigs.

The 63-year-old Manchu artist spent 10 months to design and complete the masterpiece, seeking inspiration from books and visiting rural areas to observe livestock.

Li began making Chinese zodiac-themed paper-cut works for her son in 2008, the Year of Rat, and has continued the tradition for every year since then.

With the completion of the pig work, she has created a whole set of all 12 Chinese zodiac animals, which she now sees more as a gift of good wishes to everyone who enjoys her work.
