China's first 5G subway station has been officially put into service in Chengdu city, Sichuan province, on Saturday.
According to Sichuan Mobile, Taipingyuan Station of the city's subway line 10 is covered by high-speed Wi-Fi signal converted from 5G network.
It is the country's first 5G digital indoor distribution system network based on the 2.6GHz frequency range, compared with the previous 5G base stations that were mainly deployed outdoors to expand the breadth of 5G network. The indoor distribution system focusing on the depth coverage will enable the signals to reach every corner of the station.
Chengdu established the country’s first 5G demonstration zone last year.
