British tourism boosted by Thanksgiving holidaymakers from the US
"We are making it easier for US visitors to travel and to explore further through regional gateways such as Manchester, driving growth from tourism across our nations and regions."
Thanksgiving Day falls on the third Thursday of November, which is November 22 this year, but American celebration has already exported what comes next to Britain. The traditional "Black Friday" sales on the day after Thanksgiving have now become a money spinner in Britain, with many store chains already advertising the event.
Retail commentators said 90 percent of British shops and online businesses are expected to take part in Black Friday events this year.
The Guardian newspaper reported Friday that shoppers in Britain are expected to spend around 13.5 billion US dollars during the Black Friday buying frenzy this year.
