After the massive earthquake hit Wenchuan county on May 12, 2008, the PLA troops rushed to the forefront at the first time for relief efforts: spearheading rescue missions, clearing out debris distributing relief materials and rebuilding roads and makeshift shelters. Troops fought against time to save lives.
