Tsinghua University and China Association for Science and Technology recently co-launched a platform encouraging cultural creativity to echo the recent World Creativity and Innovation Day, which fell on April 21.

The platform – called the "Green Creativity Sharing Network” – involved 43 research institutions, universities and industry associations from both China and abroad, all of which agreed to cooperate in the improvement of relevant academic research and to incubate more expertise in the creative industries.

The university and the Association also hope to improve the global influence of Chinese scientific innovation industries in a bid to enable them to better benefit the cultural sector.

In order to try and improve protection of intellectual property and the development of cultural products, the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association also joined the initiative.

Liu Binjie, head of a research institute for the cultural creativity industry affiliated to Tsinghua University was named as the chairperson for the new platform, while Michael Worbs, former chairman of the executive board of UNESCO, will be the chief international councillor for the organization.

Tsinghua University has also published a book illustrating its comprehensive research on China's cultural creative industry, which accompanied the launch of the platform.
