National-level forgery suspects arrested

The Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau has solved a case concerning forgeries of national-level official documents and recently apprehended two suspects, police said at a case briefing on Monday.
After thorough investigations, police found that since August 2017, Guo Wengui, a fugitive in the United States seeking political asylum and listed in the Interpol Red Notice, has fabricated a large amount of information and leaked false "facts" on the Internet, according to a statement.
He incited and intimidated suspects Chen Zhiyu and Chen Zhiheng into forging over 30 national-level official documents as evidence of a "revelation" online, faked documents purporting to be issued by the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the State Council and relevant ministries and commissions.
By spreading the documents on overseas media platforms, he deliberately damaged China's image, misleading the public and causing extremely negative effects, police said.
