Senior official stresses study of newly-adopted constitutional amendment
BEIJING -- China's top political advisor Wang Yang on Wednesday underscored the importance of the new constitutional amendment, in a meeting of the Leading Party Members Group of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee.
Wang, the newly elected chairman of the 13th CPPCC National Committee, said the constitutional amendment determines the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in the country's political and social life, and ensures that the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is the defining feature of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
It was timely and necessary to put the major theories and policies of the 19th CPC National Congress, along with the new experiences of the development of the cause of the Party and country into the fundamental law, said Wang.
Wang also pointed out that the amendment will create a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation and encourage more exchanges and interactions among ethnic groups.
China's National People's Congress (NPC), the national legislature, adopted the constitutional amendment on March 11.
