Guangzhou launches tourist travel card
Authorities in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, have launched a travel card to promote the city's tourism resources and boost visitor numbers.
The Guangzhou Travel Card, issued by the Guangzhou Yangchengtong Co, can be used on the metro, trams, buses and ferries, and offers discounts at about 100 tourist attractions, scenic spots, hotels, restaurants and travel agencies.
The three types of card — 24-hour, 48-hour and 72-hour — are specially designed for short-term visitors and are being sold at Yangchengtong customer service centers, bus terminals, railway stations, airports, tourist attractions and hotels.
The card will be upgraded in the near future to an electronic card, providing online travel consulting services and virtual value-added services, according to the company.
