8 killed in South China fire

GUANGZHOU - Eight people have been killed in a fire in Haifeng county of South China's Guangdong province, local authorities said Sunday.
The fire broke out in a community in Gongping Township at 3:30 am Saturday. It was put out around 5:30 am, according to the county publicity department.
One person died at the scene, and one died on the way to the hospital. Another six died after being taken to the hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
