The second "October Literature Month" was launched in Beijing on Oct 12. During the opening ceremony, 9 national top writers signed up with October Literature and Art Publishing House to be the first batch of "October's contract writers".
In order to attract more talent, Beijing started literature month in 2016 with exhibitions and setting up of October Literature Academy.
The plan to sign up with top writers is aimed at supporting literary creations and building a talent pool for literature. Beijing is also planning to set up a "October Literature Foundation" to promote literary development.
