A series of cultural events will be jointly held by Beijing's Haidian district and Xiongxian county in Hebei province in the coming weeks.
An event to mark the start of such activities was held on Sept 15 at the Haidian District Library.
According to the organizers, the district and the Hebei county share a lot in common, including rich water resources such as lakes. The two places seek to build a strong common culture.
The exchange activities would be helpful for the further integration of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, for which a national strategy has been drawn up to boost North China’s economic development.
Xiongxian is now part of the Xiong'an New Area, which aims to become a demonstration area for innovative and high-tech industries.
