Chinese president appoints new ambassadors

        BEIJING -- Chinese President Xi Jinping has appointed four new ambassadors, upon approval by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, according to a statement by the national legislature.
Qin Jian was appointed ambassador to Somalia, replacing Wei Hongtian.
Hu Zhaoming was appointed ambassador to Croatia, replacing Deng Ying.
Zhang Jianguo was appointed ambassador to Mauritania, replacing Wu Dong.
Lu Shaye was appointed ambassador to Canada, replacing Luo Zhaohui.
