Museum visitors see red at exhibition
The Museum of East Asian Art in Bath is hosting an exhibition until Feb 12 that features China's favorite color. Red-Culture, History and Craftsmanship highlights the importance of the color throughout the centuries.Most objects on display are of Chinese origin and include ceramics, lacquerware, prints and paintings. The museum is on Bennett Street, Bath.
Dragon dancers part of firework festival
Chinese dragon dancers will be among entertainers taking part in the Clumber Park Firework Festival on Saturday in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. The Around the World event will feature two firework displays set to music, as well as live music on the festival stage, food and drink stalls, and international entertainment.
Healthcare forum being staged in Beijing
KPMG and the China-Britain Business Council are presenting a healthcare forum in Beijing on Thursday aimed at UK businesses wanting to explore opportunities in primary care and dental care. Organizers say the healthcare market in China is being transformed as part of the country's reforms, and note that the primary care market is likely to grow from one worth 47.8 billion pounds last year to one worth 76.9 billion pounds in 2020. The forum is being held at the Kerry Hotel on Guanghua Road.
Chinese roles in WWI to be highlighted
Steve Lau from the Ensuring We Remember campaign will speak about Chinese perspectives on the "Great War" at an event in Leeds on Friday. The World War I Global Perspectives Study Day at Leeds City Museum will include presentations about the participation of black and African soldiers, and lectures about the contributions of Asian nations. The Ensuring We Remember campaign is part of an effort to see a permanent memorial erected to commemorate the participation of 96,000 volunteers in the Chinese Labour Corps.
