China and Britain should build some flagship cooperation projects concerning nuclear power, high-speed railway projects and finance, President Xi Jinping said during a meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron on the sidelines of the third Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague on Tuesday.

Xi said the two sides should also deepen their cooperation in education, science and technology and media, and aim to create more opportunities for exchanges of personnel. Xi told Cameron on Tuesday that the visit opened a new page in bilateral ties.

Cameron said Britain is actively committed to advancing Sino-British ties, and is willing to join hands with China to ensure a positive outcome from bilateral high-level visits and dialogue mechanisms. He also said China and Britain should promote major investment projects between the two countries.

Cameron added that Britain supports an early signing date for the EU-China investment agreement, and is willing to play a positive role in advancing the EU-China free trade talks.
