A paperwork mix-up means a man charged with stealing 20 hens from a Foxton farm 14 months ago will now reappear in the Levin District Court next month.

Mark Eden appeared in court today but the hearing was postponed until February 13 because paperwork had not been distributed to all parties correctly.

The animal rights activist told NZPA he "rescued" the hens from Turks farm in November 2006 and indicated he would plead not guilty.
