The phrase "whims and fancies" defines the spa treatment experience at Indigo Pearl, a resort in northern Phuket Island where I stayed during my recent vacation.

The name of the spa treatment is Coqoon Rebirth Massage. Coqoon is a cleverly twisted spelling of the word "cocoon", which dictionary defines as being enveloped in a protective or comforting way, and that's exactly what the treatment aims to do.

It is a completely personalized experience, where the highly-skilled therapists tailor a massage that fits one’s unique needs, wants and body composition, well, almost at one’s whims and fancies.

When the masseur Sarah asked where I would like her to pay attention to during the 90-minute pampering session, greedy me says "head to toe". But to her, it is not a tall order.

The place where the treatment is being carried out is called The Nest – simple and apt. It is a nest-looking luxurious spa suite suspended midair and accessed by a flying bridge, allowing guests to get closer and more personal to nature. It consists of two opulent yet minimalist suites – one for massage, the other acts as a bath-and-changing room.

The exterior of the spa is an architecture wonderment, with its two gigantic nests connected by a sky bridge and surrounded by gracefully landscaped garden; while the unique interior design proves even more captivating and impressive. A special touch is given to every little detail, from the carefully chosen flowers that hang from the air well at the center of the spa suite to the shower head and knob, sink and mirror with bird motive.

It is a sight to behold during the day and even more so in the night when deep blue lights illuminate the bottom of the nest to give it a most supernatural touch.
