China shuttlers qualify from 2nd round of Indonesia Open

JAKARTA - China' s seeded women doubles and men' s single players were qualified to vie in further matches in Indonesia Open super series badminton championship after thrashing their opponents in the second qualification round held in the capital city' s landmark badminton stadium Istora Senayan on Wednesday.

Badminton World Federation' s (BWF) number one players Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang from China easily defeated Japanese non-seeded players Naoko Fukuman/Kurumi Yonao in two straight games ended 21-15, 21-10 in 30 minutes.

The success of the defending Indonesia Open women's doubles champions Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang were followed by their compatriots Bao Yixin/Cheng Shu and Ma Jin/Tang Jinhua.

The number eight players Bao Yixin/Cheng Shu stopped South Korean pairing in three games 21-16, 16-21, 21-15 in one hour and fifteen minutes. Meanwhile Ma Jin/Tang Jinhua trashed Indonesian non-seeded players Suci Rizky Andini/Jenna Gozali in two easy games 21-12, 21-10 to secure a berth in the following round.

In men' s single group, number 3 player Du Pengyu successfully advanced to the next round after trashing Vietnamese non-seeded player Nguyen Tien Minh.

More Chinese players were scheduled to vie in the remaining matches scheduled up until the evening.

Chinese men' s doubles Guo Zhendong/Shen Ye had to quit earlier in the tournament after they were defeated by the number 8 seeds Baek Choel Shin/Yeong Seon Yoo in two straight games.

The number one men's singles player Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia had to go through tough match against Chinese non-seeded player Wang Zhengming. Lee Chong Wei prevailed 20-22, 21-4 and 22-20 to advance to the next round.

The 30-years-old Lee Chong Wei said that he did not perform well in the match held earlier on Wednesday, saying that he was still adapting his body condition with the tournament.

"Chen Long, Du Pengyu, Wang Zheming are strong players. I would play better in the following round," Lee Chong Wei said on the sidelines of the match, referring to Chinese players who had been his tough opponents in international tournaments.

Lee Chong Wei won the Indonesia super series title for four times in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

The host country, Indonesia, has qualified several players in men's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles. Indonesian badminton fans are waiting for the performance of Taufik Hidayat, now top player of Indonesian badminton.

Taufik who had won many international championships would announce his retirement from professional badminton in the current tournament.
