ROME - Rafael Nadal achieved an unexpectedly easy win over Roger Federer in their 30th clash as the Spaniard bagged his seventh Rome Masters title on Sunday.

Fifth seed Nadal used just an hour and eight minutes to beat Federer 6-1, 6-3, moving 20-10 against the Swiss and 13-2 on the clay surface.

Federer committed 32 unforced errors and managed just one break from Nadal who forced six break points and took five of them.

With the win in Rome, Nadal has won three straight tournament titles, a perfect preparation for the upcoming French Open.

Serena Williams won her fourth consecutive tournament victory when she beat Victoria Azarenka 6-1, 6-3 in the women's final, extending her unbeaten run to 24 matches.

The American, 31, will head to Paris as a strong favorite to win the title at Roland Garros for only the second time.

Her victory at the Foro Italico on Sunday followed wins in Miami, South Carolina and Madrid.
