2018 international IP forum opens in Shanghai
"In the first three quarters of 2018, China witnessed the registration of 1,067 foreign-funded high-tech manufacturing companies and actual used foreign capital topped $9.87 billion, suggesting that China's efforts in improving the business environment and IP protection have paid off," Li said.

According to Chen, IP protection is a crucial element for improving city competitiveness and creating a first-class business environment. Shanghai will set up an international, fair and efficient IP system and build a highland for quality IP protection to support Shanghai’s opening-up.
During the forum representatives from WIPO and over 20 countries and regions shared their insights on innovation development and IP protection.
Before the event, Shen and Gurry held a discussion on the WIPO Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) program, China's Golden Trademark and Golden Patent awards, as well as IP cooperation between WIPO and Shanghai.
Shen also witnessed the signing of a supplementary agreement to the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on further enhancing Shanghai and WIPO’s collaboration in intellectual property, the inauguration of a pilot (Shanghai) platform for the international operation of the State Intellectual Property Operation Public Service Platform (SIPOP), during his visit to Shanghai.
