Hosted by Chongqing's primary news website cq.news.net, the media tour is to highlight the urban image, industrial development, and tourism industry of Chongqing municipality.

Li Chunyan, Party secretary and president of CQNEWS Group, said at the launching ceremony that the event has been very effective in helping CQNEWS promote Chongqing to people all around the world.

During this year's May Day holiday, Chongqing received 17.36 million visitors, a year-on-year increase of 21.6 percent, due to its unique geographical features and rich tourism resources.

Earlier on May 16, the Chongqing Tourism Development Conference announced the goal of building Chongqing into an internationally-renowned tourist destination, and turning tourism into a comprehensive strategic pillar industry by 2022.

After the launch ceremony, the journalists visited Jianchuan Museum and Shizhushan Park, which is a music-themed park in the city's Jiulongpo district.

In recent years, Jiulongpo district has built 16 urban parks, including Min'an Park, Huafu Park, and Huayan Rock Climbing Park, as well as 14 community parks. The per capita green park area has increased by 1.7 square meters, reaching 15.36 square meters per capita.

The journalists also learned about Chongqing's "five chiefs mechanism and gird management" at the Shiqiaopu sub-district office in Jiulongpo district.

The "five chiefs mechanism" refers to every sub-district, every road and alley, every residential building, and every four to five stores having a chief.

"Grid management" means that 13 communities under the jurisdiction of the sub-district are divided into 98 grids, with each community and each grid having two chiefs.

All the chiefs work together to learn about issues related to public security, industry and commerce, environmental protection, and violations in urban governance, and to urge relevant departments to work toward solving these issues.

Since the implementation of the "five chiefs mechanism and gird management", the quality of urban management in Jiulongpo district has greatly improved.

A total of 17,583 urban management problems have been discovered and the rectification rate has reached 99.4 percent. Problems that have been solved since July 2018 include issues involving occupation of roads, parking on sidewalks, littering, sewage and oil, and sidewalk damage.
