Designed to be market-oriented, professional and international, the 2014 China Ocean Economy Expo held in the port city of Zhanjiang early this month exhibited the latest developments in the marine economy.

It is the only national-level comprehensive trade show organized by the State Oceanic Administration, which hosted it together with the Guangdong provincial government.

Covering 90,000 square meters on land and 125,000 sq m on sea, the expo held from Dec 3 to 7 included international, national, ocean, fishery and military pavilions. A military pavilion was arranged by China Poly Group Corp.

The expo served to showcase the achievements and upcoming trends in China's marine economy and to facilitate international cooperation in ocean industries, said Zhang Hongsheng, deputy chief of SOA, at the opening ceremony.
