POWERCHINA projects showcased on foreign banknotes and stamps
In recent years, POWERCHINA projects have been printed on foreign banknotes, stamps, and ballots, showcasing POWERCHINA's increasing international influence and outstanding performance, as well as projecting a good image of China.
Constructed by POWERCHINA, the Nam Leuk Hydropower Plant in Laos debuted on the newly released 20,000 kip ($2.27) bank note in 2012, adding Chinese elements to the Lao currency.
Guinea is the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to establish diplomatic relations with China. The Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea issued a new 20,000 franc banknote in 2015, adorned with the Kaleta Hydropower Station, which was built by POWERCHINA.
It was the first time that an overseas project contracted by POWERCHINA has become the background of a country's currency before its official operation.
In February 2019, the Merowe Dam, Roseires Dam, and Upper Atbara Dam in Sudan, which were built by POWERCHINA, were used as background images on the new 100 Sudanese pound ($2.22) notes.
The three hydropower dams are located on the main watercourse and tributaries of the Nile River, Sudan's "mother river," and are all playing a vital role in the national economy and improving people's livelihoods.
