Zhouzhuang, one of the most famous water towns in the Jiangnan region south of the Yangtze River, is a charming place to visit during the winter. And there is no better time to plan a trip to Zhouzhuang than during the traditional celebrations of Chinese New Year.

Traditional folk customs in this ancient town are as well-preserved as its architecture. During the Spring Festival, the week-long holiday held around the time of Chinese New Year, residents in Zhouzhuang organize various activities on different days, many of which you will be able to take part in.

On Chinese New Year's Eve, many local residents will stay up all night to get a fresh start on the first day of the new year. On the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, there will be a colorful parade down the town's waterways as people go to greet the god of wealth.
