A new eatery is set to open in the picturesque water town of Zhouzhuang in Sept 22, serving up local Jiangnan delicacies and treats as well as providing customers with unique views.

Zhenwei Jiangnan, located at the east end of Nanshi Street, is dedicated to serving the genuine Jiangnan snacks and desserts with characteristic Zhouzhuang flavors.

Osmanthus rice cake (guihuagao)

Osmanthus rice cakes are a sweet snack popular south of the Yangzte River. The cakes are a mixture of osmanthus flowers and glutinous rice flour, creating an unctuous sweet treat.

Wadisu

This pastry is flat, thin, crisp and oval shaped, made of flour and sesame. The taste and texture leave a pleasant aftertaste.

Rainbow pie (Caihongxianbing)

This unique treat contains all natural ingredients and all colors of the rainbow. Green vegetable juice, pumpkin, and purple sweet potato are all blended with glutinous rice flour creating a smooth texture and robust flavor.

A children's favorite in Zhouzhuang, youji, or oil chicken, is a crispy fried pastry made with flour and sesame.

Turnip cake(luobosibing)

Originating in Jiangsu province, turnip cake is very popular around Suzhou, Wuxi and Jiangyin. Recipes can vary from place to place, but it always contains turnip in one way or another. It is usually eaten as a breakfast snack.
