Primary School students shine in opera contest

Primary school students from Lujia town of Kunshan city, Jiangsu province, gave brilliant performances at the fifth student opera competition, Kunshan Daily reported on Dec 12.

Li Zitian won the first-place prize with the Kunqu Opera A Tale of Red Pear Blossoms. Another performance of Peony Pavilion, the famous Kunqu Opera, won a third prize for the school, and later exhibited as one of the excellent works of the contest at the Chang'an Grand Theater in Beijing.

The event was held at the National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts in Beijing. It sought to promote traditional opera arts and national spirit. Students from elementary schools, middle schools and colleges will enter separate categories and compete as individuals and teams.
