The first Zhejiang University Science and Technology Week started in Kunshan, Jiangsu province, on Nov 10.
Organized by the Zhejiang University Kunshan Innovation Institute and co-sponsored by the Kunshan science and technology bureau, Kunshan Industrial Institute and Industrial Technology Research Institute of Zhejiang University, the week-long event consisted of a policy promotion conference, a science and technology exhibition, and a matchmaking activity. It was an attempt to enhance technological cooperation between Zhejiang University and Kunshan, as well as lure the university's skilled professionals and high-end technologies to the city.
The Zhejiang University Kunshan Innovation Institute, founded in July 2012 with an investment of 65 million yuan ($10.59 million), includes six research centers focusing on research of high-end equipment and smart cities. As a representative of the high-tech industry, the institute has set up 11 sub-enterprises attracting capital of 67 million yuan.
