A fresh agricultural products e-commerce platform, is booming in Kunshan, Jiangsu province, and making food shopping more convenient for locals.

The website provides a wide range of fresh food, such as vegetables, meat, fruit, rice and oil, as well as imported snacks and fruit.

After a customer places an order via the Internet, the website workers will deliver the ordered food to a self-service food pickup machine in the customer's residential area. Then a message will be sent to the recipient. Customers are allowed to pick up their food with membership cards or the pass codes sent to their phones.

He Liying, a resident in Kunshan, got her food by swiping her membership card. She used to walk several kilometers to buy vegetables. "Now I buy vegetables online and pick them up in the neighborhood. All are fresh, and the price is the same as the real food market," she said.

Orders placed before 10:30 am will be delivered before 4:30 pm. All the vegetables and fruit will be kept in fresh boxes to guarantee freshness.

The prices of vegetables and fruit are the same as those sold in real agriculture trade markets. The e-commerce platform highlights daily specials with prices over 30 percent cheaper than the same kinds in agriculture trade markets.

At present, six residential areas have been installed with self-service food pickup machines, and more machines will be added in four other residential areas to meet the increasing demand of locals.
