Two citizens from Kunshan – Wang Lijuan and Liu Xian – have been appointed as representative inheritors of Jiangsu provincial intangible cultural heritages, ending a periodwhere there were no provincial inheritors in Kunshan to boost the protection and inheritance of the city’s intangible cultural heritages.

Wang Lijuan was confirmed as chief inheritor of Xuanjuan, a traditional art form of talking and singing. Wang takes an active part in Kunshan’s intangible cultural heritage performances and helps the preservation of the city’s intangible cultural heritage.

Liu Xian, the inheritor of Aozao noodles, has passed on his noodle-making technique to more than 400 apprentices. He has come to various places including Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai to teach the skill of making Aozao noodles. More than 30 franchise stores have been opened across the county, greatly promoting the Aozao brand.
