Kunshan convenes meeting for Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival

The Kunshan tourism industry convened a meeting on Aug 16 in preparation for the Kunshan Cross-Straits Lantern Festival. Deputy Director Yan Qin hosted the meeting. Dong Jianguo, director of the Kunshan tourism administration, delivered a speech. Mei Xinghua and Ding Qiwen, both deputy directors, as well as other principals of Kunshan tourism departments attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Dong introduced the overall lantern-making process for Mid-Autumn Festival. He also stressed the importance of the Cross-Straits Lantern Festival. He said that relevant departments should put people’s interests first and take concrete action to better serve the people. Great importance should be attached to Mid-Autumn Festival.

First, realize the significance of tourism to the lantern festival The 2013 Cross-Straits Lantern Festival will boost the economic and tourist development of Kunshan. It will play a constructive role in promoting social transition and urbanization.

Second, take full responsibility for the event Relevant departments should take the festival seriously and make every effort to ensure the festival is a success. Concrete measures need to be taken to better serve tourists. The government should seize the opportunity to vigorously strengthen cultural development.

Third, popularize Kunshan culture and tourism Tourist departments should reinforce cultural popularization and work together to provide a safe and convenient tourist atmosphere. Meanwhile, efforts should be made to build a great image of Kunshan.
