Summer is a perfect time to pick fruit. Watermelons and honey peaches are hitting the market. It is an ideal time to pick crystal pears, peaches and Zhaoling grapes.

The enthusiasm of visitors did not flag despite the hot weather. Today, Garden in the City, a TV show, and some families picked fruit in the orchard. Juicy pears, sweet peaches and tasty grapes provided a visual feast for visitors. Though tired from the hot weather, the visitors felt happy and satisfied upon seeing their full baskets.

The orchards in Zhangpu began cultivating trees since last winter. Their efforts included fertilization, flower and fruit thinning, pollination and bagging. With adequate rain and sunshine, Zhangpu reaped a good harvest. The pears were especially popular amongst visitors. Pears are known as "the king among fruits". Pears can apparently relieve dry, itchy and sore throats as well as other physical problems by moistening lungs, reducing phlegm and reducing coughs. Squeezing pears into juice or boiling them with Sterculia lychnophora, waxgourd seeds and crystal sugar can help your throat and body.

During summer, various kinds of pears and Zhaoling grapes will hit the market. Yellow peaches from Sanjia village will also be available. As they ripen, Zhangpu will offer more fruit-picking days for visitors.
