GFHS (Global Forum on Human Settlements) recently awarded the title "Global green town" to the ancient town of Zhouzhuang, in Jiangsu province.

According to the evaluation of GFHS, Zhouzhuang has managed to maintain many of its ancient characteristics, such as its old buildings and cultural relics - which are all protected. The old town also focuses on environmental protection and energy saving，and Zhouzhuang has experienced an economic boom, with its GDP per capita exceeding $20,000.
