Hohhot’s Jinqiao Primary School invited experts from the local meteorological bureau to talk about meteorology and instruments used for monitoring the weather on March 22, with the purpose of inspiring teenagers’ enthusiasm for science and technology.

The event marked the 57th World Meteorological Day, an annual event falling on March 23. It was founded by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), a specialized agency attached to the United Nations.

WMO is dedicated to international cooperation and coordination on the state and behavior of Earth’s atmosphere, its interaction with the land and oceans, the weather and climate it produces, and the resulting distribution of water resources.

Jinqiao Primary School has been promoting meteorological sciences as part of a specialized project, since being appointed as the Hohhot youth center for science popularization.
