Young pupils in Hohhot recently learned the traditional folk art of paper cutting at the studio of Cui Xia, a skilled artist of intangible culture heritage, in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Cui Xia has poured much passion into paper cuttings, drawings, and handicrafts since she was at a very young age. In recent years, she has created pieces of paper cuttings that are highly-rated by her peers.

Every weekend, Cui’s studio is crowded with dozens of young pupils from local primary and middle schools who have lessons in the art of paper cutting. “Through free public lessons, I hope paper cutting as a folk art can become popular among young people,” said Cui.
