Fairytale ballet sets festive mood

Dancers from Russia gave a ballet performance in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Dec 31, reports Baotou Daily.

The two-hour performance integrated Arabic, Chinese, and Russian elements.

The Nutcracker Ballet is based on the book called "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" written by E.T.A. Hoffmann, with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The ballet has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960s, and it has been performed by countless ballet companies, especially during the Christmas season.
