Inner Mongolia has set goals for developing its big data and cloud computing industries, with the ambition of building up the largest data center in North China over the next three to five years.

To build North China’s data center, Inner Mongolia needs to cooperate with adjacent provinces such as Hebei, Shanxi, Gansu, and the three provinces in Northeast China, for integrating information and resources. The project will focus on basement construction in Hohhot, Baotou, Ordos and Chifeng, with over 3 million servers expected to be in use by 2020.

Inner Mongolia has also set five further development goals including the construction of a data port along the Silk Road, a cross-sector governmental platform, an Internet Plus system for public services, a database for converging industrial advantages, and a multi-ethnic shared e-platform.
