Li Jiheng, secretary of Inner Mongolia Party Committee, recently visited Hinggan League, Xilin Gol League, and Hulunbuir League, with a focus on the development of cultural tourism in Inner Mongolia.

Li gave specific instructions while conducting research in the leagues and cities, and also conveyed his expectations for the development of tourism in the region.

Hinggan League

During Li’s tour of Hinggan League, he visited local communities, businesses, and tourism spots including Arxan Geological Park, the former office site of Ulanhu, and some other monuments related to the Chinese revolution.

Li said that Hinggan League not only has the traditional Mongolian ethnic culture, but is also richly endowed with natural beauty thanks to its limitless grasslands, forests, lakes with crystal-clear waters, and fresh air. The pristine natural environment could ensure there is potential for developing the tourism industry.

He also proposed four suggestions for promoting Arxan as a world-famous tourist hotspot in the future, including the concept of whole-region tourism, the construction of high-quality traveling projects, the capital investment on high-end tours, and the publicity via the Internet or new media. Through these ways, local residents can benefit from development of the tourism sector.

Xilin Gol League

During his trip to Xilin Gol League, Li visited the traditional Mongolian Nadam tourist zone and listened to the long tune (Mongolian folk singing), watched horseracing, Mongolian wrestling, and viewed Mongolian ethnic singing and dancing performed by the Ulanmuqi troupe. At the end of the visit, Li expressed greetings to local herdsmen, athletes and performers who attended the Nadam events.

After the visit, Li praised the local Nadam-themed tourism events that have inherited traditional Mongolian customs. He also advised the local government on transforming the concept of regular husbandry management, and promoting grassland activities in rural areas through native folk traditions.

Hulunbuir League

During the trip to Hulunbuir League, Li conveyed his concerns about the environmental protection of Hulun Nur Lake, which is not only crucial to local ecology but also the tourism industry in surrounding areas. He also urged the local government to enact laws to guarantee the protection of the lake. Only under the efficient eco-protection of Hulunbuir grasslands can the league achieve the goal of balancing the protection of the natural environment with economic development.

With limitless grasslands and forests, Hulunbuir League should build its brand and promote its spectacular nature and culture to travelers from both China and abroad, according to Li.

Erenhot and Manzhouli

Li also visited two border cities, Erenhot and Manzhouli, and emphasized the significance of them promoting the building of the China-Russia-Mongolia Economic Corridor alongside boosting border tourism.
