During the National Day holiday, Inner Mongolia embraced around 8.54 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 21.5 percent; a surge that resulted in 6.03 billion yuan ($896 million) of tourism revenue.

Compared to last year, tourism revenue grew by 29 percent during the Golden Week. Among the tourist spots, over 30 regional scenic places received 1.75 million people, hitting an income of 759 million yuan, according to the local tourism bureau.

According to the provided statistics, people flooded into cities like Hohhot, Baotou, Tongliao, Chifeng, and Ordos. They mainly chose to visit several tourist attractions, often traveling between cities and going for countryside road trips.

For the popular cities, self-driving tourists reached 600,000 on average, and the number of visitors to the countryside hit 2.9 million in all, bringing in 420 million yuan income for local animal husbandry areas.

As a region heavily dependent on tourism, Inner Mongolia has recently focused on eco-friendly tours, Mongolian-ethnic trips, and many other routes presenting local nature and culture, which can further meet the needs of people from adjacent provinces and regions.
