In the first seven months of 2016, Hohhot in Inner Mongolia autonomous region recruited around 265 thousand herdsmen for new jobs, accomplishing 98 percent of the annual goal, according to the local employment center.

This year, Hohhot has implemented a series of measures to improve employment rates for animal husbandry and thus help the rural labor out of poverty.

Utilizing the local farming and husbandry industries, the government promoted the development of organic livestock products, stylistic planting ranches, and leisurely pastoral tourism.

Also, the Hohhot city encouraged migrant workers, particularly those with technical skills or familiar with management, to return to their homes to build new businesses, further helping reduce local surplus labor.

Apart from developing traditional industries like manufacturing and construction, the region provided new emerging jobs such as express delivery, food takeout, and distribution for the herdsmen.

The local government established some platforms and tunnels including a labor center, guiding facilitators, and intermediary agencies, to bridge the gap between employers and the herdsmen on a large scale.
