Inner Mongolia subsidizing public transportation

The city of Hohhot, Inner Mongolia has announced that it is increasing its financial support for public transportation with 150-million-yuan ($23.2 million yuan) in funds this year and has allocated 37.5 million yuan for the Hohhot Bus Communication Corp.

This year's public transportation spending amounts to 100-million yuan more than for last year and will mainly be used for the city subway's Lines 1 and 2, and to account for free bus rides, higher salaries for bus personnel, and an increase in the price of natural gas.

The city government has also allocated 1-million yuan for a special fund for restructuring the Hohhot Bus Communication Corp, to improve public transportation services and quality.
