As the weather gets colder in the city of Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, stray cats and dogs have aroused concern from some local residents. In order to give these stray animals a cozy winter, an initiative to care for the stray cats and dogs was launched by a charity association in Inner Mongolia.

The initiative was supported by local compassionate people. A total of nearly 100 people have taken part in the activity and raised 12,600 yuan ($2,034.29). To date, they have completed the construction of 70 kennels.

“A lot of kind-hearted citizens hope to set these kennels in their own communities. The first batch of 70 kennels have already been set up, and the construction of the second batch is in full swing. Some citizens have been actively providing a helping hand after they found out about the small shelters for stray cats and dogs,” a vice-head of the charitable association said.

In one community in Baotou’s Hondlon district, an iron kennel was home to four small stray dogs. Food and water was also prepared for them.
