The first Taobao Inner Mongolia Cashmere Festival successfully concluded at midnight on the evening of Oct 26.

The festival received nearly 20,000 orders with sales revenue reaching 9.12 million yuan ($1.49 million) in five days.

The statistics showed that a total of 13.03 million netizens visited the festival during its opening days. Daily visitors peaked at 2.42 million.

The cashmere festival was the first e-commerce promotion event carried out by Inner Mongolia’s cashmere industry. The cashmere enterprises that participated in the festival experienced “an e-business battle” that features huge volume, large-scale promotion and big integration. The experience is expected to help them in future e-business operations, providing a new orientation for local e-business development and local economic transformation.

The event was carried out thanks to the joint efforts of the Hohhot commerce bureau, the city’s cashmere association and Taobao. The event aims to improve the name of Inner Mongolia’s cashmere brands and their share in the e-business market.
